Headaches

While there are as many different types of headaches as there are treatment options, physical therapy for headaches may help. The cause of headaches can come from a joint or muscle in your face, neck or back that is out of sorts. Poor posture may also result in muscle tension and tightness leading to a headache. Hands on physical therapy works the muscles, joints, nerves, and tissues involved with headaches, helping to alleviate any discomfort. Certain techniques, including stretching exercises, used during the onset of a headache, may reduce the pain.

Physical therapists and ergonomic specialists can also help identify if proper posture at home and work is a contributing factor and educate you on proper positions. Once the cause is identified, exercises may be prescribed to help improve the ailment, including movements to strengthen and stretch the neck, shoulder and back.

Consulting with a physical therapist is a good step to finding the relief you need in order to get your life back on track.
